My Model Kit Building Experience
GUNDAM
(Note that these things are fictional. Meaning they are not real.)
GUNDAMS are robots used by people in the military in mobile suit gundam series. Gundams are mobile suits. Mobile suits are pieces of gigantic machinery used in the war between other colonies in space. On a gundam, there is a cockpit where the pilot sits and maneuvers the gundam. Gundam's cockpits are mostly found in the middle of it's chest.
Heading on to my experience, i started building gundam model kits since i was 11 years old, and still building model kits. I have some model kits that are bandai, but mostly of my kits are bootlegs (brands that are unliscenced). The reason I buy unliscenced kits is the original brand may exceed my budget. So I end up buying bootlegs.
When I first saw people building model kits, they panel line, paint and modify it to make it look good. But me, I straight build it, which kind of looks a bit ugly. By means of ugly you still see nub marks, and lines throughout my kits.
Also my very first Gundam was the justice Gundam from Gundam seed series. But the thing is, it's a bootleg. But I love it. Through it, I've had my very first experience on building model kits. Through building model kits, painting and modifying it still crosses my mind but I don't have enough materials so I have no choice but to ignore it. Which is sad, considering I wanted to do it. What I hate the most about building model kits, there are too much freaking stickers just to fill the details of the kit. I also hate the decals of MG. It's frustrating to stick in the parts and it loses some details. The thing you need to get the pieces out of the runners is a wire cutter.
Also not all model kits are gundams. There are star wars, dragon Ball, even model kits of real vehicles, and many more varieties. There are types of model kits: there are the none grades. The first release of bandai. But it has limited arcticulation. There are the SD (super deformed). It has fairly limited amount of articulation but it has a giant head and a small body. There are HG (high grade). It is the normal scale of model kits. There are MG (master grade). It is the 3rd of the biggest scales of model kits. It has an inner frame, many details than HG, and some of MG has a lighting feature. There are RG (real grade). It is like a HG but is also similar to MG. It has details like an MG but in a size of a HG
There are PG (perfect grade). It is the 2nd to the biggest scales of model kits. It is almost the same as MG but it has more details than MG, also has an inner frame and led lightings. There are mega size. It is like a HG except it is bigger than PG. It is entirely the same as HG. It is the biggest of all model kit scales.
For a begginer like you to build a Gundam model kit, always start where you think that isn't a challenge for you. If you're needing tips on what model kit to start, pick the HG version. And then head on to other sets. And it's your own free will to just straight build or paint n modify your kits.
THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE ON BUILDING MODEL KITS. I HOPE THAT YOU CAN GET BETTER EVERYTIME YOU BUILD MODEL KITS.
